Borgogno Barolo Fossati Red 2016
The Barolo Fossati 2016 from the prestigious house of Borgogno is a single-cru Italian red wine that represents the excellence of Piedmont. This Barolo DOCG comes from the Fossati vineyard, a historic plot located between Barolo and La Morra, covering approximately 3.20 hectares with a southeast exposure, at an altitude between 290 and 350 meters.
Unique Terroir
The Fossati cru originated approximately 6 million years ago, through the sedimentation of the Padano sea, after the collision of the African and Italian peninsula tectonic plates. Being a relatively young geological plot, it has a good percentage of sand in its composition, which ensures wines characterized by explosive floral and red fruit notes.
Wine Characteristics
Appearance: Garnet ruby with orange reflections, typical of the Nebbiolo grape and aging.
Aroma: Complex and elegant bouquet, with intense floral notes (roses, violets), ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry), spices, tar, tobacco, and earthy hints.
Palate: On the palate, it reveals great structure and elegance. Firm but silky tannins, vibrant, perfectly integrated acidity, full body, and a long, persistent finish with notes of ripe fruit, spices, and minerality.
